First off I want to start by stating how amazing this song is. Damien Rice sings it with great emotion. From listening to it you could say this has to do with a girl and a guy breaking up. But as I look at the lyrics I begin to think more of a struggle between Himself and society. "What I want from us is empty our minds
We fake the thoughts, and fracture the times
We go blind when we've needed to see" Instead of seeing whats truly there we just ignore it and go on as if nothing is wrong. "What I want from this is to learn to let go, No not of you of all that's been told" I believe he is saying from this experience he wants to learn for himself. Find out things meaning to him rather then just accept the general idea. Feel free to leave comments and add to this. But this Is what I get from this.
